Amazon MGM Studios has picked up a half-hour private eye comedy starring former NFL star Marshawn Lynch, with Dave alum Max Searle serving as creator and showrunner.
Currently untitled, the series follows Lynch as a version of himself who, instead of settling into the usual retired athlete lifestyle, dives headfirst into a new career as a Las Vegas private investigator. Teaming up with a tough, veteran female PI, the pair take on cases — and each other — in ways as unpredictable as Lynch himself.
The comedy hails from 3 Arts Entertainment’s Luke Dillon and Luke Maxwell, alongside Will Arnett and Marc Forman of Electric Avenue, plus Lynch, Bryon Sheng, and Diaunte Thompson of Beastmode Productions.
Lynch has quickly become one of the rare NFL stars to successfully cross over into Hollywood. After 13 seasons with the Buffalo Bills, Oakland Raiders, and Seattle Seahawks — earning a Super Bowl XLVIII win and a spot on the NFL’s All-Decade Team — he’s stacked up credits in Bottoms (which earned him an Independent Spirit Award nomination), Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Westworld, Love Hurts, Eenie Meanie, and most recently The Pickup alongside Eddie Murphy and Pete Davidson. He also wrapped a role in Euphoria season 3 and continues to host his ‘N Yo’ City series on Prime Video’s Thursday Night Football.
For Searle, this marks another Amazon collaboration. In addition to co-showrunning the upcoming Barbershop TV series, his past credits include Dave, Netflix’s Neon, Only Murders in the Building, The Ranch, and Two and a Half Men.
With Lynch bringing his signature “Beast Mode” energy to the detective world, this new comedy promises a wild spin on the private eye genre.
