M’Baku, King of Wakanda, Meets the Thing From Yancy Street in New ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Teaser

Marvel’s latest teaser for Avengers: Doomsday sets a somber tone, grounding the upcoming crossover in loss, leadership, and what comes next for Wakanda and Talokan.

The footage opens with Shuri walking alone as she narrates, “I lost everyone that matters to me.” The screen cuts to black before shifting to brief glimpses of the Talokan people. Quick shots follow of Namor and Namora, played by Tenoch Huerta Mejía and Mabel Cadena, reconnecting the underwater nation to the story after Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Shuri’s narration continues as the teaser cuts to Namor seated on his throne. “The king has his duties,” she says, “to prepare our people for the afterlife.”

The mood shifts when the focus returns to Wakanda. Shuri is seen walking beside M’Baku with Wakandans behind them. The somberness breaks when M’Baku introduces himself to the Thing, marking the teaser’s only moment of levity.

“King M’Baku of Wakanda.”

“Ben. Yancy Street between Broome and Grand,” the Thing replies.

The exchange confirms M’Baku’s role as Wakanda’s king and closes the teaser on a lighter note after its restrained opening.

About Avengers: Doomsday

Avengers: Doomsday is an upcoming American superhero film based on Marvel Comics’ Avengers. Produced by Marvel Studios and AGBO and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, the film serves as the fifth Avengers installment following Avengers: Endgame and the 39th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The film is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and written by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely. It brings together the Avengers, Wakandans, Fantastic Four, New Avengers, and the X-Men to face Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr.

The ensemble cast includes:

Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Tenoch Huerta Mejía, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Kelsey Grammer, Lewis Pullman, Danny Ramirez, Joseph Quinn, David Harbour, Winston Duke, Hannah John-Kamen, Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal, and Robert Downey Jr.

The film follows a major shift in Marvel’s Phase Six plans. Initially announced in 2022 as The Kang Dynasty, the project was reworked after creative changes and the departure of Jonathan Majors. In July 2024, Marvel officially revealed the new title Doomsday, confirmed the Russo brothers’ return, and announced Downey’s casting as Doctor Doom.

Filming began in April 2025 at Pinewood Studios in England, with additional location work in England and Bahrain, and wrapped later that year.

Fourteen months after the events of Thunderbolts*, the Avengers and their allies are forced to unite as a new threat emerges.

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to be released in theaters on December 18, 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars set to follow on December 17, 2027.
