Megan Thee Stallion Makes Broadway Debut as Zidler in ‘Moulin Rouge! The Musical’ — First Look Revealed

Megan Thee Stallion is stepping into a new spotlight.

The three-time Grammy-winning artist is set to make her Broadway debut next week in Moulin Rouge! The Musical, and the first look at her transformation into Zidler has officially arrived.

Taking on the role for a limited eight-week run beginning Tuesday, March 24 through Sunday, May 17 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre, Megan isn’t just joining the production—she’s making history.

Traditionally portrayed as Harold Zidler and played by male-identifying actors, the character is being reimagined for Megan’s run. She will become the first female-identifying performer to take on the role in any Moulin Rouge! The Musical production worldwide, signaling a notable shift in how the character is presented on stage.

And based on the first-look image, this isn’t a gender-swapped performance done in drag—it’s a full re-interpretation of Zidler as a woman, with Megan leaning fully into the glam, spectacle, and authority that defines the iconic cabaret impresario.

In a statement shared when her casting was announced, Megan called the opportunity “an absolute honor,” adding:

“Broadway demands a different level of discipline, preparation and storytelling, but I’m up for the challenge and can’t wait for the Hotties to see a new side of me.”

Her casting arrives as Moulin Rouge! The Musical prepares for its final stretch on Broadway. The production, which opened in 2019 and went on to win 10 Tony Awards including Best Musical, is set to close on July 26.

Producers are positioning Megan’s run as a major part of that sendoff. Carmen Pavlovic described the moment as a “farewell gift” to audiences, promising a performance that brings both theatrical spectacle and a touch of Megan’s own musical identity to the stage.

The role of Zidler was originated on Broadway by Tony winner Danny Burstein, with Bob the Drag Queen currently wrapping up a limited engagement in the role ahead of Megan’s debut.

With over 12 million attendees across global productions, Moulin Rouge! The Musical is already a proven hit—but Megan’s arrival is expected to push demand even higher during her run.

And if the first look is any indication, she’s not just stepping into Broadway—she’s about to command it.
