Broadway is getting a Hot Girl takeover.
Three-time Grammy Award-winning artist and actress Megan Thee Stallion is officially making her Broadway debut, joining the Tony Award-winning hit Moulin Rouge! The Musical for a limited engagement running March 24 through May 17, 2026 at New York’s Al Hirschfeld Theatre.
The announcement arrives as the long-running musical enters its final months on Broadway ahead of its previously announced closing performance on July 26, 2026, positioning Megan’s run as one of the production’s biggest late-era moments.
Her casting also marks a historic first for the global production. Megan becomes the first female-identifying performer to take on one of the musical’s traditionally male roles across any staging of Moulin Rouge! The Musical worldwide — including Broadway, international productions, and touring companies — offering a new interpretation of a character audiences have long associated with male performers.
In a statement accompanying the announcement, Megan shared that stepping onto the Broadway stage represents an opportunity to challenge herself creatively, noting that live theater requires a different level of discipline, preparation, and storytelling than audiences typically see from her music and screen work.
Producer Carmen Pavlovic described the moment as a major milestone for the musical’s celebrated run, calling Megan one of the most influential artists of her generation and teasing that audiences may hear subtle nods to her own musical catalog incorporated into the show.
Current cast member Bob the Drag Queen, who has been performing in the role, will conclude their limited engagement on March 22, just days before Megan begins performances.
Megan Thee Stallion’s Expanding Acting Era
While Megan Thee Stallion first rose to global prominence through music, her Broadway debut continues a steady expansion into film, television, and live performance.
The Houston native has earned multiple Grammy Awards and three Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hits, including Savage (Remix) featuring Beyoncé and WAP with Cardi B. In recent years, she has also appeared in Dicks: The Musical, made guest appearances on STARZ’s P-Valley and Marvel’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and hosted major television events including Saturday Night Live and the MTV Video Music Awards.
Beyond entertainment, Megan has built a growing entrepreneurial and philanthropic portfolio. She launched her tequila brand Chicas Divertidas in 2025 alongside her size-inclusive swimwear line Hot Girl Summer, while continuing community initiatives through the Pete and Thomas Foundation, which focuses on education, housing, and health and wellness support.
A Landmark Run for a Broadway Spectacle
Based on Baz Luhrmann’s 2001 Oscar-winning film, Moulin Rouge! The Musical opened on Broadway in 2019 and went on to win 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Directed by Alex Timbers with a book by John Logan and choreography by Sonya Tayeh, the production blends pop music across generations into a large-scale theatrical spectacle centered on romance, ambition, and artistic freedom.
Since its debut, the musical has played to more than 12 million audience members across 15 productions worldwide, including runs in London’s West End, international companies across Europe and Asia, and multiple touring productions.
As the Broadway production prepares to close this summer, Megan Thee Stallion’s arrival signals a finale era defined by bold casting and cultural crossover — bringing one of music’s biggest global stars onto one of theater’s most iconic stages.
Tickets for the limited engagement are now available through the Al Hirschfeld Theatre box office and the official Moulin Rouge! The Musical website.
