Michael B. Jordan is receiving his flowers. The Santa Barbara International Film Festival will honor him with the Outstanding Performer of the Year Award on February 12, 2026, for his powerhouse performance in Sinners.
In the film, Jordan takes on the challenge of portraying twin brothers Smoke and Stack, delivering one of the most talked-about performances of the year. The Depression-era drama, set in the Jim Crow South, has not only dominated the box office with over $366 million worldwide but has also made a cultural mark as Jordan’s fifth collaboration with director Ryan Coogler.
Jordan’s career has been about more than just hits — it’s been about building legacy. From his early days as Wallace on The Wire, to Friday Night Lights, to his breakthrough with Fruitvale Station, he’s consistently chosen roles that tell layered, impactful stories. His work in Creed redefined a franchise, Black Panther became a global movement, and with Creed III he stepped into the director’s chair, making history with the biggest opening weekend ever for a sports film.
Now, with Sinners, Jordan once again proves why he’s one of the most important actors and storytellers of our time. And he’s not slowing down — up next, he’ll direct, produce, and star in The Thomas Crown Affair reimagining, while continuing to push forward diverse projects through his production company, Outlier Society.
The Outstanding Performer of the Year Award has gone to Hollywood greats like Viola Davis, Will Smith, Margot Robbie, and Heath Ledger. In 2026, it belongs to Michael B. Jordan.
The 41st Santa Barbara International Film Festival runs from February 4–14, 2026.
