Netflix has unveiled first-look images and set a premiere date for Nemesis, the upcoming crime drama from Courtney A. Kemp. The eight-episode series will debut Thursday, May 14, marking Kemp’s first project under her overall deal with the streamer.
Best known for building the Power universe, Kemp returns with a psychological crime thriller that centers on two men on opposite sides of the law—and the inevitable collision between them.
At the heart of Nemesis is Y’lan Noel as Coltrane Wilder, an expert criminal described as an “unstoppable force,” and Matthew Law as Isaiah Stiles, a brilliant detective positioned as the “immovable object.” What begins as a story rooted in the heist genre evolves into a deeper exploration of morality, loyalty, family, and survival, as both men are pushed to their limits in a high-stakes cat-and-mouse game.
The series aims to subvert traditional crime storytelling, blending action and suspense with a character-driven approach that examines what drives people—and what ultimately destroys them.
The ensemble cast includes Cleopatra Coleman, Tre Hale, Domenick Lombardozzi, Jonnie Park, Ariana Guerra, Gabrielle Dennis, Michael Potts, Sophina Brown, Cedric Joe, and Jeff Pierre.
Guest stars include Moe Irvin, Quincy Isaiah, Jay Reeves, Mike O’Malley, Stephanie Sigman, Khalilah Joi, Shane Johnson, Siua Ikale’o, Dawnn Lewis, Mark Feuerstein, and Chris Bauer. Notably, Feuerstein and Johnson previously appeared in Kemp’s Power franchise.
Behind the camera, Kemp serves as creator, showrunner, and executive producer. She co-created the series with Tani Marole, who also executive produces. Mario Van Peebles directs the first two episodes and executive produces, reuniting with Kemp following their work within the Power universe. Chris Selak and Philipp Barnett also serve as executive producers.
Filming on Nemesis began in Los Angeles in March 2025 and wrapped in July 2025.
With eight hour-long episodes, Nemesis positions itself as more than a traditional crime drama—offering a layered, psychological take on power, perspective, and the choices that define us.
