Netflix has released the first trailer for its upcoming crime thriller Nemesis, teasing an intense, psychological battle between two men on opposite sides of the law.
The series stars Matthew Law as Isaiah Stiles, a brilliant detective, and Y’lan Noel as Coltrane Wilder, an expert criminal described as an “unstoppable force.” What begins as a familiar cat-and-mouse dynamic quickly evolves into something more layered—blending heist-driven tension with a deeper exploration of morality, family, and survival.
At its core, Nemesis reimagines the crime genre through the collision of two opposing ideologies: an immovable object versus an unstoppable force. As their paths intertwine, the series examines what drives people, what sustains them, and what ultimately breaks them.
The ensemble cast includes Cleopatra Coleman, Tre Hale, Domenick Lombardozzi, Jonnie Park, Ariana Guerra, Gabrielle Dennis, Michael Potts, Sophina Brown, Cedric Joe, and Jeff Pierre.
Guest stars include Moe Irvin, Quincy Isaiah, Jay Reeves, Mike O’Malley, Stephanie Sigman, Khalilah Joi, Shane Johnson, Siua Ikale’o, Dawnn Lewis, Mark Feuerstein, and Chris Bauer. Notably, Feuerstein and Johnson previously appeared in Kemp’s Power universe.
Behind the camera, Courtney A. Kemp serves as creator, showrunner, and executive producer. She co-created the series with Tani Marole, who also executive produces alongside Chris Selak and Philipp Barnett. Mario Van Peebles directs the first two episodes and executive produces, with additional episodes directed by Millicent Shelton, Rob Hardy, and Ruben Garcia.
Production on Nemesis began in Los Angeles in March 2025 and wrapped in July 2025.
The eight-episode season will feature hour-long installments and premieres on May 14.
Positioned as more than a traditional crime drama, Nemesis aims to subvert the heist genre while delivering a character-driven psychological thriller about power, loyalty, and the choices that define us.
