Netflix Renews ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ for Season 5 Before Season 4 Debuts

Netflix is keeping The Lincoln Lawyer on retainer.

Ahead of the series’ Season 4 premiere on February 5, the legal drama has been renewed for a fifth season. The upcoming installment will consist of 10 episodes and will be inspired by Resurrection Walk, the seventh novel in Michael Connelly’s Lincoln Lawyer book series.

Manuel Garcia-Rulfo returns as Mickey Haller, Los Angeles’ most unconventional defense attorney, whose practice operates out of the backseat of his Lincoln Navigator. Season 4 picks up after the explosive Season 3 finale, which ended with Mickey being arrested for the murder of his former client, Sam Scales. The new season finds him facing the most personal case of his career — defending himself.

“If you look back at the show, it’s taken this very clear trajectory from a redemption story of a guy flying too close to the sun to being haunted by the sins of the past,” co-showrunner Ted Humphrey previously shared. “Season 4 almost takes us full circle back to a guy feeling like he has to redeem himself again.”

Co-showrunners and executive producers Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez confirmed that Mickey’s experience on trial fundamentally alters him moving forward.

“We’re so excited to share the upcoming season with the audience on February 5, and even more excited to share the news that we’re already hard at work on the next one,” they said in a joint statement. “Season 4 is the most challenging and intensely personal journey we’ve taken Mickey Haller on yet, and we’re thrilled and grateful to be able to continue the ride in Season 5.”

Season 4 is based on The Law of Innocence, the sixth book in Connelly’s series, and introduces Constance Zimmer as prosecutor Dana Berg, who has ties to Mickey’s ex-wife Maggie. Returning cast members include Neve Campbell, Becki Newton, Jazz Raycole, Angus Sampson, Elliott Gould, and Cobie Smulders, alongside an expanded guest cast.

The series remains one of Netflix’s most reliable performers, ranking as the No. 4 original streaming series in the U.S. in 2024, with more than 12 billion minutes viewed, according to Nielsen.

The Lincoln Lawyer is produced by A+E Studios. David E. Kelley created the series for television, with Humphrey developing the novels for the screen.

Season 4 premieres February 5 on Netflix.
