It’s a Wrap: Nia Long and Larenz Tate’s Netflix Romance ‘Don’t Ever Wonder’ Completes Filming

Netflix’s upcoming romantic drama Don’t Ever Wonder has officially wrapped production.

Stars Nia Long and Larenz Tate shared the news in a celebratory video, confirming cameras have stopped rolling on the highly anticipated project.

“That is a wrap on Don’t Ever Wonder,” Tate said in the clip, before Long added, “We have this fantastic, wonderful movie that we’re so excited for you all to see.”

The pair described the film as “a story about love and relationships, and children, and being empty nesters, and all of the human things that we go through as people and as couples,” signaling a layered, grown-folk romance centered on intimacy, evolution, and connection.

The Netflix film — inspired by Maxwell’s Urban Hang Suite — has been quietly building anticipation since its announcement. While plot details remain tightly under wraps, the tone has consistently been described as deeply romantic, emotionally rich, and rooted in classic R&B storytelling energy.

Directed by Eugene Ashe, best known for Sylvie’s Love, the project is co-written by Ashe and Kay Oyegun (This Is Us). The film is produced by James Lopez, Charles D. King, and Poppy Hanks for MACRO Film Studios, with Maxwell, John D. Hammond, Long, and Tate serving as executive producers.

The film also stars:

  • Blair Underwood
  • Laz Alonso
  • Susan Kelechi Watson
  • Pauletta Washington
  • Dennis Haysbert
  • Chanté Adams
  • Algee Smith
  • Grasie Mercedes
  • Navia Robinson
  • Yolonda Ross

The reunion of Long and Tate has already stirred up major excitement. Nearly three decades after defining modern Black romance as Nina and Darius in Love Jones, the duo is stepping into a new chapter — one that appears to explore love at a different stage of life.

This also isn’t their only reunion on screen. Long and Tate both appear in Michael, Antoine Fuqua’s upcoming Michael Jackson biopic from Lionsgate, where they portray Katherine Jackson and Berry Gordy. That film is set to hit theaters April 24, 2026.

Originally developed at Amazon before landing at Netflix, Don’t Ever Wonder is now officially in post-production.

With filming complete and this ensemble in place, one thing’s clear: the grown-folk romance renaissance might be loading.
