Ego Nwodim, Jerrod Carmichael, Sam Jay, and Vir Das are bringing their comedic voices to the stage for The Comedy Series — a new Off-Broadway showcase from Lincoln Center Theater and Seaview that blends stand-up, storytelling, and theater.
Each performer will headline a limited run at Lincoln Center’s Claire Tow Theater, using the space as a creative lab to test new material and explore “the space between humor and truth.”
The lineup kicks off with Vir Das (October 29–November 9), followed by Jerrod Carmichael (November 12–16), Ego Nwodim (November 19–23), and Sam Jay (December 3–14). Directed by Zhailon Levingston (Cats: The Jellicle Ball), Nwodim’s show marks her Off-Broadway debut and her first major project since exiting Saturday Night Live after seven standout seasons.
According to organizers, The Comedy Series will feature completely unique performances each night. “No two shows will be the same—because the creative process isn’t a straight line, and neither is this series,” the release notes.
For Nwodim, the run signals a new chapter following her celebrated tenure on SNL. After confirming her departure last month, she wrote, “The hardest part of a great party is knowing when to say goodnight. But after seven unforgettable seasons, I have decided to leave SNL.”
Tickets for Nwodim’s Comedy Series performances go on pre-sale October 15, with general sales beginning October 20 at LCT.org.
