Dan Fogelman is calling on another This Is Us alum for his next TV project. Omar Epps has joined the cast of Fogelman’s upcoming untitled football drama series at Hulu.
The series, led by Law & Order: SVU alum Christopher Meloni, is set inside the world of the NFL and centers around a generational family dynamic within a professional football organization.
Meloni stars as Danny, the team’s head coach, with Sam Corlett and Tanner Zagarino playing his sons. William H. Macy plays team owner Hank Durkin, while Mandy Moore and Chloe Bennet portray Hank’s daughters. Chace Crawford joins as the team’s newly appointed General Manager.
Epps will recur as a former NFL player who now serves as the team’s Offensive Coordinator.
The series comes from 20th Television and Skydance Sports, with Fogelman writing and executive producing alongside Jess Rosenthal and Kevin Falls. Skydance’s David Ellison, Jesse Sisgold, and Jason T. Reed also serve as executive producers.
This marks a reunion for Epps and Fogelman following Epps’ Season 4 appearance on NBC’s This Is Us as Darnell, the mechanic father of Malik (Asante Blackk).
Epps most recently starred as Detective Malcolm Howard on Starz’s Power Book III: Raising Kanan and recently wrapped production on feature film Moses the Black.
Fogelman’s new football drama follows his streak of Hulu collaborations under his overall deal with 20th Television. Earlier this year, his series Paradise, starring This Is Us alum Sterling K. Brown, premiered to strong acclaim and earned four Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series.
