One Golden Summer: TNT & OWN Team Up For Documentary on First All-Black Team to Win U.S. Little League

TNT Sports, in partnership with OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, will premiere the documentary One Golden Summer, telling the story of the first all-Black team to win the U.S. Little League Championship. The film will air on TBS on Tuesday, April 7, at 10:30 PM ET, following the Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Toronto Blue Jays game, and on OWN as an OWN Spotlight on Thursday, May 7, 2026.

The documentary follows the Jackie Robinson West team from Chicago’s South Side during their historic 2014 run. The boys captured the nation’s attention with their remarkable play and team spirit, only to have their championship title revoked months later due to contested residency boundaries. One Golden Summer provides a platform for the players to share their story firsthand, giving audiences an intimate look at the triumphs, setbacks, and enduring brotherhood that defined their journey.

Directed by Kevin Shaw and produced by State Street Pictures, with Robert Teitel and Betsy Steinberg among the producers, the documentary made its debut at the Chicago International Film Festival, where it earned both The Chicago Award and the Audience Award for Best Documentary. Executive producers Danny Zamost and Alex Pissios helped guide the project, which features never-before-seen footage and candid reflections from the players, now grown men.

The film goes beyond baseball, exploring the challenges the team faced both on and off the field. It examines systemic hurdles while celebrating the resilience and unity of a group of young athletes who became symbols of hope for their city.

One Golden Summer is a love letter to the game of baseball and a testament to the idea that some legacies are measured not just in trophies, but in the bonds they leave behind,” the filmmakers said.

TNT Sports is a global leader in premium sports content, with rights to Major League Baseball, NCAA March Madness, NHL, UFC, and more. OWN, launched by Oprah Winfrey in 2011, is known for its focus on storytelling that inspires conversation and connects audiences worldwide.

One Golden Summer is set to be a must-watch for sports fans, documentary lovers, and anyone interested in stories of resilience and triumph over adversity.
