Paramount+ is officially heading to the Big Easy. The streamer has ordered NOLA King, a Tulsa King spinoff starring Samuel L. Jackson, and revealed the first-look image featuring Jackson alongside Sylvester Stallone.

As BLEX Media first reported in June, Jackson will first appear in Season 3 of Tulsa King before leading his own series. NOLA King marks the first official expansion of Taylor Sheridan’s Tulsa King universe, with production expected to begin in early 2026.

Jackson stars as Russell Lee Washington Jr., a man sent by the New York Renzetti crime family to Tulsa with orders to eliminate Dwight Manfredi (Stallone). But after spending a decade in federal prison with Dwight — and seeing what his old friend built in Tulsa — Washington opts for a second chance. He returns to New Orleans, the hometown he abandoned 40 years ago, to reconnect with his estranged family and reclaim power in a city filled with both opportunity and danger. But his attempt to rebuild doesn’t go unnoticed. Old enemies from both NOLA and New York begin to close in.

The logline teases a franchise-expanding narrative steeped in legacy, loyalty, and local politics:

“In so doing, he incurs the wrath of his former employers in New York, and makes himself vulnerable to old NOLA foes, both criminal and cop.”

The series will be executive produced by Taylor Sheridan, Sylvester Stallone, and Samuel L. Jackson, alongside David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Michael Friedman, and Keith Cox. It is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios and distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution outside of Paramount+ markets.

“Nobody brings presence and power to the screen like Samuel L. Jackson,” said Paramount Global Co-CEO Chris McCarthy. “Building on Tulsa King’s success, NOLA King lets audiences experience Jackson’s full range — as he steps into a layered, franchise-leading role.”

Added Stallone, “Chris [McCarthy] came to me with a game-changing idea to elevate Tulsa King beyond a mob boss drama into a dynamic, family-driven franchise. Sam Jackson was the only choice for this.”

Jackson is no stranger to prestige television, having recently starred in The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey (Apple TV+), Secret Invasion (Disney+), and Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist (Peacock). He also voiced the title role in the cult hit Afro Samurai.

Jackson’s legendary career spans decades and includes an Oscar-nominated performance in Pulp Fiction, iconic roles in Shaft, Unbreakable, Glass, and the Star Wars and Marvel franchises. In 2021, he was honored with an Academy Award for lifetime achievement.

While Tulsa King Season 3 debuts in September, NOLA King is gearing up for a February production start. A showrunner search is currently underway following the exit of Dave Erickson, who was initially attached but has since returned to Tulsa King and Mayor of Kingstown.
