Peacock Drops Trailer and First Look Images for ‘The Paper’ — Starring Melvin Gregg, Gbemisola Ikumelo, and More

Peacock has unveiled the official trailer and first-look photos for The Paper, a mockumentary comedy from The Office co-creator Greg Daniels and Nathan for You’s Michael Koman. The highly anticipated series premieres with four episodes on September 4, followed by two new episodes every Thursday through September 25.

Set in the same universe as The Office, The Paper introduces the documentary crew that once followed the Dunder Mifflin team as they search for a new subject—landing at the Toledo Truth Teller, a struggling Midwestern newspaper in desperate need of a revival.

Domhnall Gleeson (The Patient) stars as Ned Sampson, the new editor-in-chief with big plans to return the paper to its journalistic glory. But there’s one small problem: none of the staff has actual reporting experience. One touts his junior high term paper. Another brags about tweeting. A third? He’s in a group chat. Somehow, Ned doesn’t walk out on day one.

In a nostalgic twist, Oscar Nuñez returns as The Office‘s Oscar Martinez. Now reluctantly reuniting with the documentary crew, Oscar’s back for the chaos—and clearly over it. “Not again!” he shouts in the trailer. “I’m not agreeing to any of this!”

Joining Gleeson and Nuñez are Sabrina Impacciatore (The White Lotus), Chelsea Frei (The Cleaning Lady), Melvin Gregg (Snowfall), Gbemisola Ikumelo (A League of Their Own), Ramona Young (Never Have I Ever), Tim Key, Alex Edelman, and Duane Shepard Sr. Guest stars include Tracy Letts, Molly Ephraim, Nate Jackson, Mo Welch, and Nancy Lenehan.

Even though Dunder Mifflin isn’t returning, The Paper is packed with familiar mock-doc energy, oddball coworkers, and uncomfortable laughs. And while fans will likely compare the new characters to their Scranton counterparts (Impacciatore’s Esmerelda is already giving big Michael Scott energy), this fresh workplace comedy has a voice of its own.

The Paper is executive produced by Daniels and Koman, alongside Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, Howard Klein, Ben Silverman, and Banijay Americas. The series is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.
