Everyone’s Favorite Chaotic Besties Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne Return for ‘Platonic’ Season 2 [TRAILER]

Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne are back as everyone’s favorite chaotic best friends in Platonic Season 2 — and this time, the stakes are higher and the laughs louder.

Apple TV+ dropped the trailer for the second season of the critically acclaimed comedy, which will premiere globally on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, with the first two episodes. The 10-episode season will roll out weekly every Wednesday through October 1, 2025.

Co-created, directed, and co-written by Nicholas Stoller and Francesca Delbanco, the new season of Platonic picks up with Will (Rogen) and Sylvia (Byrne) trying to navigate the complicated (and hilarious) terrain of adult friendship — now including new relationships, weddings, and full-blown midlife chaos. “They try to be each other’s rock — but sometimes rocks break things,” teases the official synopsis.

The season also features Luke Macfarlane and Carla Gallo, with a fresh slate of guest stars including Aidy Bryant, Kyle Mooney, Beck Bennett, and Milo Manheim.

In the newly released trailer, Sylvia admits to her husband that replacing Will would take way too long — so instead, they attempt “appropriate adult behavior,” like double dates with Will’s new girlfriend. Physical comedy and emotional hijinks ensue as the two try to preserve the rare dynamic they’ve rebuilt.

Interestingly, Platonic was originally planned as a limited series. But after seeing how well the show resonated with audiences, Rogen revealed that the response encouraged the team to continue. “I really just wanted to see if we were happy with it when it came out — and if everyone else was happy with it… Once I saw that we could actually do it, I was like, ‘OK, we should keep doing it,’” Rogen told The Hollywood Reporter.

Platonic is produced by Sony Pictures Television, with executive producers including Byrne, Stoller, Delbanco, and Conor Welch, alongside Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and James Weaver for Point Grey Pictures.

The series marks one of several collaborations between Rogen and Apple TV+. He also stars in the Emmy-nominated hit The Studio, which just made history as the most-nominated freshman comedy series ever with 23 Emmy nods. Meanwhile, Byrne continues her run on the platform with the dark comedy Physical.
