Prime Video has officially dropped the trailer and confirmed the premiere date for The Girlfriend, a six-part psychological drama starring Robin Wright, Olivia Cooke, Tayna Moodie, and Shalom Brune-Franklin. The limited series will premiere September 10, with all six episodes streaming globally on Prime Video.
Based on Michelle Frances’ bestselling novel, The Girlfriend centers on Laura (Wright), a woman who seemingly has it all—a successful career, a loving husband (Waleed Zuaiter), and a devoted son, Daniel (Laurie Davidson). But when Daniel introduces his new girlfriend, Cherry (Cooke), Laura’s carefully curated life begins to crack. Tensions rise as Laura becomes suspicious of Cherry’s intentions—questioning whether Cherry is a cunning manipulator or if Laura is spiraling into obsession and paranoia. The truth, as the series teases, depends on who you believe.
Tayna Moodie (The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power) plays Isabella, Laura’s closest friend and mother to Brigitte, portrayed by Baby Reindeer breakout Shalom Brune-Franklin. The series also features Karen Henthorn (Passenger), Anna Chancellor (My Lady Jane), Leo Suter (Vikings), and Francesca Corney (The Buccaneers).
Directed by Robin Wright, the series is penned by a team of writers led by Naomi Sheldon and Gabbie Asher, with contributions from Polly Cavendish, Helen Kingston, Marek Horn, Ava Wong Davies, Isis Davis, Smita Bhide, and Matt Evans.
The Girlfriend is produced by Imaginarium Productions and Amazon MGM Studios. Caroline Norris produces, while Wright, Jonathan Cavendish, Will Tennant, Phil Robertson, John Zois, Dave Clarke, Gabbie Asher, and Michelle Frances serve as executive producers.
