Regina Hall and Anna Faris to Return as Brenda and Cindy in New ‘Scary Movie’

Brenda and Cindy are making a comeback. Regina Hall and Anna Faris will reprise their fan-favorite roles in the sixth installment of Scary Movie, reuniting with Keenen Ivory, Shawn, and Marlon Wayans for the first time in 18 years.

“We can’t wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn, and Marlon — three men we’d literally die for (in Brenda’s case, again),” Hall and Faris said in a joint statement to Deadline.

The Wayans brothers — who launched the $900M-grossing franchise in 2000 — are co-writing and producing the new film with longtime collaborator Rick Alvarez. Michael Tiddes (A Haunted House, Naked, Sextuplets) will direct. Paramount will release it globally on June 12, 2026, with production starting this October.

The first Scary Movie opened to $42.5 million, setting box office records for an R-rated horror film and for a Black director at the time. Known for parodying horror hits like Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer, the franchise has remained a pop culture touchstone thanks to its over-the-top spoofs and unforgettable characters — including Brenda and Cindy’s outrageous antics.

With horror thriving at the box office, the Wayans’ return to the series they created has perfect timing — and this time, they’re bringing the original chaos back with them.
