Renée Elise Goldsberry Joins Mike Colter in CBS Legal Drama ‘Cupertino’

Renée Elise Goldsberry is officially heading back to CBS.

The Tony- and Grammy-winning performer has joined the cast of Cupertino, the upcoming legal drama from creators Robert King and Michelle King, starring Mike Colter. The series is set to air during the 2026–2027 broadcast season.

Set in the heart of Silicon Valley, Cupertino is framed as a David-vs.-Goliath legal drama. The story centers on Michael (Colter), a lawyer who discovers he’s being cheated out of his stock options by his former tech start-up employer. Rather than walk away, he teams up with another recently fired attorney to represent workers exploited by the tech elite—taking on the powerful forces controlling Silicon Valley.

Goldsberry will appear as Renee, a brilliant opposing attorney with both a professional and romantic past tied to Michael, setting the stage for layered legal battles and unresolved personal history. Additional casting includes Ella Stiller, who will play Christy, a young assistant at the new start-up law firm at the center of the show.

The project reunites Goldsberry with the Kings, following her memorable role as Geneva Pine on The Good Wife. She also previously worked alongside Colter on the supernatural drama Evil, another King-produced series.

The Kings will write and executive produce Cupertino under their King Size Productions banner, with Robert King directing the premiere episode. Liz Glotzer also serves as executive producer. The duo currently has Elsbeth airing on CBS, expanding their long-running legal universe that began with The Good Wife and The Good Fight.

Goldsberry’s career spans stage, television, and music. She earned a Primetime Emmy nomination for her performance as Angelica Schuyler in Hamilton, along with multiple Daytime Emmy nominations for One Life to Live. Her TV credits include Girls5Eva, She-Hulk, Ally McBeal, and Altered Carbon.

She is also the subject of the 2025 documentary Satisfied, which explores her Hamilton journey alongside themes of family, motherhood, and artistic growth. On Broadway, her credits include Rent, The Color Purple, and The Lion King. She recently released her debut album, Who I Really Am.
