There are a few notable casting shifts coming to Chicago Fire as Season 14 moves toward its final stretch.
Dermot Mulroney, who joined the series last year as Battalion Chief Dominick “Dom” Pascal, will be stepping away from the show for the remainder of the season. According to sources, Pascal will last appear in Episode 14, which is slated to air in March. Scripts for the final episodes have not yet been finalized, so it remains unclear whether Mulroney will return before the season ends.
Mulroney will, however, appear in the upcoming One Chicago crossover event (Episode 13), airing March 4, alongside Chicago Med and Chicago P.D..
Stepping in during Pascal’s absence is Rob Morgan, who has been cast in a recurring role as Battalion Chief Hopkins. Described as a figure with a “long, haunted past” overseeing multiple Chicago firehouses, Hopkins is quick to assert authority and is expected to significantly impact Firehouse 51 as the season unfolds.
Morgan will make his Chicago Fire debut in Episode 16 and is set to appear in four episodes total, including the Season 14 finale. Mulroney’s hiatus is reportedly tied directly to Pascal’s storyline, with viewers learning more about both Pascal’s departure and Hopkins’ role as the season progresses.
As for the future of Chicago Fire, NBC has not yet announced whether the long-running procedural will return for a 15th season.
New episodes of Chicago Fire air Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
