Rosalind Eleazar (Slow Horses) has been tapped to lead Chris Rock’s upcoming A24 feature, with Daniel Kaluuya (Judas and the Black Messiah), Adam Driver (Megalopolis), and Anna Kendrick (Another Simple Favor) also joining the ensemble cast.
Currently in production in Los Angeles, the film follows Misty Green (Eleazar), a gifted but troubled actress whose career has repeatedly been derailed by personal struggles. Her path takes a turn when someone from her past re-emerges with an offer that could reignite her career. Plot details for the characters played by Kaluuya, Driver, and Kendrick remain under wraps.
The film is written and directed by Rock, marking his first time behind the camera since Top Five (2014). He also stars in the project, playing Jordan, a director whose complicated history with Misty threatens to either fuel her comeback—or derail it for good.
Producing alongside Rock are Peter Rice and David Worthen Brooks, with Nelson George, Shaum Sengupta, and Miles Alva executive producing. Industry heavyweights James Lopez (MACRO) and Tommy Oliver (Confluential Films) were previously attached as producers, with Charles D. King and Codie Elaine Oliver also on board as executive producers.
The project was first introduced to buyers at the American Film Market with Neon International handling international rights and CAA Media Finance repping domestic.
This film continues Rock’s evolution as a storyteller unafraid to explore complex human dynamics, particularly within the entertainment world. His recent work includes the Netflix special Selective Outrage, roles in Rustin, Amsterdam, and Spiral: From the Book of Saw, as well as narrating and executive producing Everybody Still Hates Chris, the animated reboot of his autobiographical sitcom.
With this latest feature, Rock returns to the director’s chair with a project that explores ambition, redemption, and the emotional toll of life in the spotlight.
