Netflix has released a first look at Running Point Season 2, confirming the basketball comedy will return April 23 on the streamer.
Created and executive produced by Mindy Kaling, alongside Ike Barinholtz and David Stassen, the series picks back up with higher stakes both on and off the court as Isla Gordon continues proving she belongs at the helm of her family’s professional basketball franchise.
A New Season, More Pressure
Season 2 finds Isla Gordon (Kate Hudson) no longer viewed as the unexpected replacement running the Los Angeles Waves — she’s now the executive everyone is watching.
With the franchise recovering after last season’s scandal, Isla is determined to show she’s more than a temporary stand-in for her brother Cam (Justin Theroux). But behind the scenes, Cam is quietly working toward reclaiming control, turning Isla’s every decision into potential leverage.
As family tensions rise and boardroom scrutiny intensifies, Isla must balance managing a professional sports empire while navigating her increasingly complicated personal life — forcing her to rethink the playbook that got her this far.

Returning Cast
Season 2 brings back much of the ensemble that powered the show’s debut season, including:
Kate Hudson, Drew Tarver, Brenda Song, Scott MacArthur, Fabrizio Guido, Chet Hanks, Toby Sandeman, Uche Agada, and Justin Theroux.
Recurring guest stars returning this season include Jay Ellis, Ray Romano, Aliyah Turner, Max Greenfield, Roberto Sanchez, Jon Glaser, Scott Evans, Rob Huebel, Marissa Reyes, Blake Anderson, Ken Marino, Tommy Dewey, Richa Moorjani, and Jake Picking.
New Faces Joining the Court
Several new characters enter the Running Point universe this season:

- Ken Marino as Al Fleischman, a wealthy courtside-seat obsessed businessman
- Tommy Dewey as Magnus, general manager of rival team the Toronto Trappers
- Richa Moorjani as Aruna, the Waves’ sharp and unfiltered accountant
- Jake Picking as Tommy White, the team’s new star point guard
- Blake Anderson as Leroy, Cam’s unpredictable sober companion
- Duby Maduegbunam as Benson, a new player joining the Waves roster
- Aliyah Turner as Zoé Debay, a former child star transitioning into A-list fame

A Quick Season 1 Refresher
Season 1 followed Isla after she was unexpectedly named president of the Los Angeles Waves basketball team, stepping into a leadership role within a male-dominated sports world while managing chaos from her brothers, outspoken players, and mounting expectations.
The season ended with the Waves losing the championship game — and Isla caught between competing romantic and professional choices that set the stage for Season 2’s escalating drama.
Behind the Series
Running Point is produced by Kaling International in association with Warner Bros. Television, where Kaling remains under an overall deal. Hudson also serves as an executive producer alongside Howard Klein, Jeanie Buss, and Linda Rambis, whose experiences in professional basketball leadership helped inspire the series.
Season 2 of Running Point premieres April 23 exclusively on Netflix.
