Nollywood is going global — again. Rushlake Media, FilmOne Entertainment, and InkBlot Productions have joined forces in a new strategic partnership designed to bring a curated slate of Nigerian films to global audiences through AVOD (Advertising-Video-on-Demand) and FAST (Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television) platforms.
This move brings together three major forces in the industry: Rushlake Media — the German-based global distributor championing African content; FilmOne Entertainment — Nigeria’s top film distribution company; and InkBlot Productions — one of the country’s most successful production houses behind hits like The Wedding Party, The Set Up, and The Arbitration.
Together, the trio is developing a new model for African content distribution that maximizes international visibility, revenue, and reach while celebrating the cultural power of Nigerian cinema.
“This partnership is a powerful step forward for the international visibility of Nigerian cinema,” said Philipp Hoffmann, Managing Director of Rushlake Media. “Together with FilmOne and InkBlot, we’re creating a model for how African content can be positioned globally — not only commercially, but also culturally.”
The collaboration reflects a growing focus on digital streaming as the future of global content consumption. According to Grand View Research, the global AVOD market, valued at $49 billion in 2024, is projected to reach $226.6 billion by 2030, growing at a 29.2% CAGR — a surge that could significantly amplify Nollywood’s reach.
At the Africa XChange Summit hosted by Rushlake Media in Cologne this October, industry leaders from across the continent emphasized the importance of co-productions, cross-continental partnerships, and sustainable distribution models for African creatives. The event served as a key backdrop for this major announcement.
“Our vision is to make African storytelling borderless and to ensure that our films and voices find sustainable life beyond the cinemas,” said Ladun Awobokun, Chief Content Officer at FilmOne Entertainment. “By combining our collective strengths, we’re bridging the worlds of content and technology to unlock new pathways for African storytelling in the global digital economy.”
Damola Ademola, Co-Founder of InkBlot Productions, added, “This partnership is where Nollywood’s creative energy meets the global digital economy. We’re ensuring that our authentic African stories don’t just travel — they thrive.”
This partnership marks a long-term commitment to strengthening Nollywood’s global footprint and contributing to a more inclusive international media ecosystem — one where African narratives are not just seen but celebrated.
