Ryan Coogler’s Acclaimed ‘Sinners’ Screenplay Now Available [READ NOW]

The screenplay for Sinners is officially out, and yes—fans and aspiring filmmakers can now peek behind the curtain of one of 2025’s most talked-about movies. Ryan Coogler wrote and directed the film, reuniting with Michael B. Jordan for a genre-bending ride that’s been turning heads since its April premiere.

Sinners has been racking up accolades all season. It leads the Critics Choice Awards with 17 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actor for Jordan, Best Supporting Actress for Wunmi Mosaku, and nods for Coogler in both Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. The Golden Globes came calling too, with seven nominations including Picture, Director, Actor, and Screenplay. Both the AFI and the National Board of Review included it in their Top 10 films of the year.

Set in 1932 Mississippi, Sinners follows twin brothers Smoke and Stack, both played by Jordan, who return home after trying their luck in the North. They open a juke joint, and things quickly spiral into a story that blends music, culture, and the supernatural. Coogler’s script dives deep into identity, trauma, and history—plus a little mysticism—making it a wild, layered story that’s equal parts thrilling and smart.

Wunmi Musaku, Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Buddy Guy, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Benson Miller, Delroy Lindo, Peter Dreimanis, Lola Kirke, Li Jun Li, Saul Williams, Yao, David Maldonado, Helena Hu, and Andrene Ward-Hammond round out the cast.

Since its April premiere, Sinners has grossed $368 million globally, exceeding expectations for an original story. Critics have widely praised its cinematography, music, and performances, with Rolling Stone calling it “a masterful fusion of visual storytelling and toe-tapping music,” while The Hollywood Reporter ranked it among the 25 best horror films of the 21st century.

With the screenplay now accessible, industry insiders, students, and fans have the chance to explore Coogler’s creative process behind a film that marries historical richness with modern genre storytelling. Whether you’re drawn to its complex characters, its blues-infused score by Ludwig Göransson, or to the moments that will make you sit up and take notice, Sinners isn’t just a movie—it’s a masterclass.
