FX has officially unveiled the trailer for The Beauty, and it’s clear this is not your typical glamour-forward thriller. Dropping January 5, the first look introduces a world where beauty is no longer aspirational—it’s lethal.
The global thriller centers on the creation of “the beauty shot,” a miracle drug that transforms everyday people into flawless visions of physical perfection. The problem? The transformation comes with horrifying consequences.
Leading the series is Ashton Kutcher as The Corporation, a shadowy tech billionaire who has engineered the drug and built a trillion-dollar empire around it. In the trailer, Kutcher’s character boasts, “I’m the world’s greatest goddamn advertisement for the hottest new super drug that makes you effortlessly beautiful,” later chillingly describing it as “an STD that people will actually want.”
As the drug spreads, supermodels begin dying in gruesome and public ways—none more disturbing than Bella Hadid’s Ruby, whose violent breakdown in a restaurant kitchen signals just how wrong things have gone.
The fallout draws the attention of FBI agents Cooper Madsen and Jordan Bennett, played by Evan Peters and Rebecca Hall, who are dispatched to Paris to investigate what begins as a shocking fashion-world incident and quickly escalates into an international conspiracy. Their pursuit takes them across Paris, Venice, Rome, and New York as they race to stop a virus that threatens humanity itself.
Meanwhile, The Corporation unleashes his lethal enforcer, The Assassin—played by Anthony Ramos—to protect the operation at all costs. Jeremy Pope co-stars as Jeremy, an outsider pulled into the chaos while searching for meaning in a collapsing world built on perfection.
Co-created by Ryan Murphy and Matthew Hodgson, The Beauty is based on the comic book series by Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley. The series leans into body horror, conspiracy, and social commentary, asking a simple but unsettling question: What would you sacrifice to be perfect?
The Beauty premieres Wednesday, January 21, at 9 p.m. ET on FX, with episodes streaming on Hulu. Internationally, the series will debut on Disney+ in the UK on January 22, launching with the first three episodes of its 11-episode first season.
With its stacked cast, globe-trotting scope, and a premise that turns beauty culture into a biological threat, The Beauty is shaping up to be one of FX’s most provocative series of the year.
