‘Scary Movie 6’ Trailer Is Here — From ‘Sinners’ to ‘Get Out’

The Scary Movie franchise is officially back — and based on the first trailer, the Wayans family isn’t holding back.

Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for ‘Scary Movie 6,’ marking the long-awaited return of Hollywood’s most recognizable horror parody series more than a decade after the last installment. This time, the film reunites many of the faces that helped define the franchise while turning its attention toward modern horror’s biggest cultural moments.

Set to Without Me by Eminem — famously opening with “Guess who’s back” — the trailer leans into nostalgia while signaling a reset that brings the series back to its original comedic roots.

The Wayans Family Returns to the Franchise

Leading the reunion are franchise staples Marlon Wayans and Shawn Wayans, reprising their roles as Shorty Meeks and Ray Wilkins. The film also welcomes back Anna Faris as Cindy Campbell and Regina Hall as Brenda Meeks — whose comedic dynamic became one of the defining elements of the early films.

Their return represents a full-circle moment for the franchise, which originally reshaped parody comedy when it debuted in 2000 by blending horror satire with sharp cultural commentary.

The new installment also expands the ensemble with returning and new cast members including Damon Wayans Jr., Kim Wayans, Cheri Oteri, Dave Sheridan, Lochlyn Munro, Heidi Gardner, Sydney Park, and Olivia Rose Keegan.

Modern Horror Gets the Scary Movie Treatment

As expected, Scary Movie 6 pulls heavily from the current horror landscape. The trailer previews parody moments inspired by recent genre hits including Sinners and Get Out, alongside references to franchise revivals, psychological horror, and streaming-era sensations.

For the series, spoofing culturally recognizable films has always been part of the formula. Historically, inclusion in a Scary Movie installment reflects just how deeply a film has entered pop culture conversation — turning horror’s most talked-about moments into comedy.

The trailer suggests the sequel will also poke fun at Hollywood’s current era of remakes, requels, spin-offs, origin stories, and so-called “final chapters” that rarely stay final.

Behind the Camera

Scary Movie 6 is directed by Michael Tiddes, known for collaborating with Marlon Wayans on comedy hits including A Haunted House. The screenplay is written by Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Keenen Ivory Wayans, Craig Wayans, and Rick Alvarez.

The film is produced by Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Keenen Ivory Wayans, Craig Wayans, and Rick Alvarez, with Jonathan Glickman, Thom Zadra, Alexandra Loewy, and Marsha L. Swinton serving as executive producers.

Notably, the new installment returns the franchise to an R-rated comedy, aligning more closely with the tone that made the original films box office successes and cultural staples.

A Timely Return for Parody Comedy

The comeback arrives at a moment when horror continues to thrive theatrically while broad theatrical comedies remain relatively scarce. With more than a decade’s worth of horror trends — from prestige thrillers to franchise reboots — the filmmakers now have an expansive playground for satire.

If the trailer is any indication, Scary Movie 6 aims to do what the franchise has always done best: laugh at the genre while celebrating how much audiences love it in the first place.

‘Scary Movie 6’ opens exclusively in theaters June 12, 2026.
