Paramount+ is keeping School Spirits in session. The streamer has officially renewed the supernatural teen drama for a fourth season, following a high-stakes Season 3 finale that left Maddie’s world more complicated—and dangerous—than ever.
The renewal comes as School Spirits continues to build momentum, with its third season closing out on March 4 with a perfect 100% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. All three seasons are currently streaming globally on Paramount+, signaling strong audience engagement across multiple markets.
Season 3 ended on a major cliffhanger that shifts the trajectory of the series moving forward. Maddie Nears (Peyton List) and her friends successfully saved Split River High from destruction, but the victory came at a cost. The looming threat of Van Heidt didn’t disappear—instead, it escalated. In a final twist, the villain possessed Maddie’s mother, Sandra, setting up a much darker and more personal conflict heading into Season 4.
That ending leaves Maddie facing a new reality where the danger is no longer confined to the afterlife—it’s now much closer to home.
At its core, School Spirits follows Maddie, a teen girl stuck in the afterlife who begins investigating her own mysterious disappearance. What starts as a search for answers quickly evolves into something deeper, as she uncovers hidden truths, fractured relationships, and secrets tied to both the living and the dead. The series blends mystery, teen drama, and supernatural elements in a way that has clearly resonated with its audience.
The ensemble cast returns, including Peyton List, Kristian Ventura, Spencer MacPherson, Kiara Pichardo, Sarah Yarkin, Nick Pugliese, Rainbow Wedell, Josh Zuckerman, Maria Dizzia, Ci Hang Ma, Miles Elliot, and Milo Manheim.
The series was created by Nate Trinrud and Megan Trinrud, who continue to serve as co-showrunners and executive producers. Oliver Goldstick will return in a consulting role for Season 4, while Peyton List also continues her work behind the scenes as an executive producer.
Produced by Paramount Television Studios, School Spirits has quietly become one of Paramount+’s more consistent genre hits—especially in the teen and young adult space, where supernatural storytelling still holds strong when paired with emotional stakes and grounded characters.
And that’s really what’s working here. It’s not just the mystery—it’s the emotional pull. Season 3 proved the show isn’t afraid to raise the stakes, and Season 4 now has the opportunity to go even deeper, especially with Maddie forced to confront a threat that hits closer than anything she’s faced before.
No premiere date for Season 4 has been announced yet. But based on where things left off, this next chapter isn’t just about solving a mystery—it’s about survival.
