Sacred Heart Reopens: New Teaser Drops for ABC’s ‘Scrubs’ Revival Ahead of 2026 Premiere

ABC is officially calling in the doctors. Scrubs returns to television on February 25, 2026, and the newly released teaser proves that Zach Braff, Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke, John C. McGinley, and Judy Reyes haven’t lost a step since we last left Sacred Heart in 2010.

The latest promo — the first to feature all-new footage — shows J.D., Turk, and Elliot slow-walking down the halls of the OG Sacred Heart like they never left. Their confident return is cut short when a flock of unimpressed new interns stares back at them. Trying to assert himself, J.D. launches into a Dr. Cox-style monologue… only for the legend himself to step out from behind a curtain.

“Really super start there, Scooter!” McGinley barks, instantly restoring Sacred Heart’s true chain of command. Moments later, Carla appears with a perfectly timed, “Leave Bambi alone,” proving that some things — including Perry Cox’s terror radius — are timeless.

From creator Bill Lawrence, the revival is both a continuation and a reset. ABC gave it a straight-to-series order, and according to the official logline, the new chapter follows J.D. and Turk as they scrub in together for the first time in years. Medicine has changed, interns have changed, and Sacred Heart has changed — but their friendship has somehow survived everything life and television have thrown at it.

Lawrence describes Scrubs 2.0 as a hybrid: part revival that brings back characters audiences grew up with, part reboot introducing new interns, new dynamics, and a modern lens for the series’ trademark heart and humor.

The Returning Favorites

Many familiar faces are back in the mix. Zach Braff, Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke, Judy Reyes, and John C. McGinley return to their iconic roles, along with Robert Maschio as Todd and Phill Lewis as Hooch, who remains as chaotic as ever. Their presence anchors the revival in the original show’s spirit while making space for the next generation of Sacred Heart’s misfits.

Meet the New Doctors of Sacred Heart

ABC has built a full new ensemble to step into the hospital halls. Vanessa Bayer plays Sibby, who runs a wellness program for faculty and staff. Joel Kim Booster joins as attending physician Dr. Eric Park. Ava Bunn, Jacob Dudman, David Gridley, Layla Mohammadi, and Amanda Morrow play this era’s intern class, who will bring their own quirks, mistakes, and emotional arcs to the series.

A recent casting update introduced Michael James Scott as Nurse Francois Dubois, a young, judgmental, and fun co-charge nurse, and X Mayo as Nurse Pippa Raymond, a sarcastic, sharp co-charge nurse known for running a tight ship. Together, they’re expected to bring a whole new energy to the hospital floor.

Braff and Faison previously shared that the revival balances the original show’s heart with a fresh perspective. The writers’ room blends a young, diverse staff with several of the series’ original writers, allowing the revival to feel both nostalgic and genuinely contemporary. Braff noted that this mix is crucial to helping the show evolve while staying true to its core. Faison added that the heart of the story still resonates — fans will once again be following the same doctors they’ve loved for years.

Scrubs originally ran from 2001 to 2010 across NBC and ABC, earning two Primetime Emmys and a Peabody Award along the way. For many, the revival represents the real continuation of the series — the season that reflects where these characters would naturally be 15 years later.

This isn’t a throwback. It’s a homecoming.
