Six New Faces Join ‘Power: Origins’ as Prequel Series Builds Out Its Cast

The ever-expanding Power universe has added six new faces to the cast of Power: Origins, marking another major step forward for the franchise’s next chapter. Production is currently underway in New Jersey on the prequel series, which will chart the early rise of Ghost, Tommy and Kanan before they became figures of legend in the streets of New York City.

The new additions join previously announced series leads Spence Moore, who steps into the role of a young James “Ghost” St. Patrick; Charlie Mann as Thomas “Tommy” Egan; and Mekai Curtis, returning to the universe as a young Kanan Stark. The roles were originally brought to life by Omari Hardwick, Joseph Sikora and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson — the latter of whom continues to serve as a driving force behind Power and narrates Raising Kanan.

Starz describes Power: Origins as a more energetic, youthful entry in the franchise — “a fun, rambunctious exploration of a new time period in the Power franchise,” centered on the unapologetic ambition of three young men determined to make their mark. The first season will span 18 episodes, the largest order in Power history, surpassing the 10-episode seasons of Ghost, Raising Kanan and Force.

The Six Additions to the Cast

Among those joining the series is a familiar face: Jason Dirden, who will reprise his Raising Kanan role as Traymont Stinson. Once an ally to the Thomas family before his betrayal, Traymont narrowly escaped death during Season 4 of Raising Kanan. Now, he resurfaces in Power: Origins in a recurring capacity — a crossover moment that deepens the connective tissue between the ongoing universe.

Rounding out the cast are:

  • Armani Gabriel as J-Boogs — Sharp, scrappy and street-seasoned, J-Boogs is one of Ghost and Tommy’s most trusted corner boys, valued for his loyalty and eye for the game.
  • Everett Osborne as Omay Moreau — A superstar NY Jets tight end whose lavish lifestyle opens doors for his friends, though not without consequences.
  • Jennifer Ferrin as Kate Egan — Tommy’s mother, seen here in her younger years: volatile, manipulative and desperate to feed her addiction, yet fiercely loved and protected by her son.
  • Lizzy DeClement as Jill Wexler — A Queens nurse with big dreams and a complicated past. A former addict with ambition to attend medical school, she falls for Tommy — but refuses to tolerate his recklessness.
  • Lenny Platt as Lenny Seidell — A charismatic finance-bro-turned-fitness-mogul whose steroid-powered gym empire drives him into new gray-area business opportunities.

The Future of the Franchise

Raising Kanan recently wrapped its fourth season, with its fifth and final season set to premiere in 2026 — a direct narrative bridge into Power: Origins. Meanwhile, Force continues to roll out episodes from its third and final season, with Tommy Egan expected to headline Power: Legacy opposite Ghost star Michael Rainey Jr. Should the series move ahead, its finale could serve as a launchpoint for Tariq and Tommy’s next chapter together.

Power: Origins is led by showrunner Sascha Penn (Raising Kanan), who executive produces from a pilot co-written with franchise creator Courtney Kemp. Additional executive producers include Kemp through End of Episode, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson for G-Unit Film & Television, Mark Canton for Canton Entertainment, Chris Selak, Kevin Fox and Pete Chatmon — the latter also serving as director. Lionsgate Television produces for Starz.
