Sophie Wilde is set to headline the upcoming sci-fi thriller Soon You Will Be Gone And Possibly Eaten, a buzzy genre project being launched by Anton ahead of next week’s European Film Market.
The film will be directed by Egor Abramenko, the filmmaker behind Sputnik and A24’s upcoming horror film Altar. The script comes from Luke Piotrowski and Ben Collins, the writing duo behind Hulu’s Hellraiser reboot and Searchlight’s The Night House.
The project is based on a short story by Nick Antosca, who also serves as creator and showrunner of Apple TV+’s upcoming Cape Fear series, starring Javier Bardem and Amy Adams.
Soon You Will Be Gone And Possibly Eaten follows Rob and Sabile, a young engaged couple who travel to a secluded mountain resort to exchange vows and begin the next chapter of their lives. What’s meant to be an intimate wedding with family quickly spirals when unexpected guests arrive, turning the celebration into something far more unsettling. Additional casting is currently underway.
Anton is financing the film and handling world rights, with domestic sales being managed by Anton alongside Anonymous Content and WME Independent. Production is slated to begin this spring.
Wilde continues her fast rise as one of genre film’s most in-demand young stars. The Australian actress broke out with A24’s Talk To Me and followed it up with Babygirl, solidifying her reputation as a standout in elevated horror. A BAFTA Rising Star nominee, she’s also in post-production on A24’s Altar and Jeremy Saulnier’s Halloween-set October. Up next, she’ll appear in Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s Digger for Warner Bros., with previous TV credits including Boy Swallows Universe, Everything Now, and Tom Jones.
The film is produced by Sébastien Raybaud for Anton; Antosca and Alex Hedlund for Eat the Cat; Greg Gilreath and Adam Hendricks for Divide/Conquer; and Dawn Olmstead and Nick Shumaker for Anonymous Content. Executive producers include David Levine and Garrett Kemble.
Production design is handled by Masha Slavina, who previously collaborated with Abramenko on Sputnik and Altar, while alien design comes from Monkey Rave.
