Starz Unveils Brutal Trailer for ‘Spartacus: House of Ashur,’ Introducing Tenika Davis as Gladiatrix Achillia

Starz has unveiled the first trailer for Spartacus: House of Ashur, the upcoming new chapter in the iconic Spartacus franchise, premiering December 5. The red band trailer teases all the violence, passion, and intrigue fans expect, with the resurrection of Ashur (Nick E. Tarabay) at its center.

Picking up in an alternate history where Ashur survived the events of 2012’s Spartacus: Vengeance, the series finds him now ruling his own ludus as “Dominus.” Ashur’s rise to power brings a new brand of gladiatorial spectacle to Ancient Rome, introducing fierce characters like gladiator trainer Korris (Graham McTavish) and the relentless gladiatrix Achillia (Tenika Davis), who is determined to prove herself in a man’s world.

“Welcome to the House of Ashur,” Starz describes. “No longer a slave, Ashur has clawed his way to power, owning the same ludus that once owned him. But ruling a band of merciless gladiators is child’s play compared to surviving the savage world of Roman politics — a cutthroat game in which betrayal isn’t a sin, it’s currency.”

The trailer also introduces Tarchon (Jordi Webber), Julius Caesar (Jackson Gallagher), and his wife, Cornelia (Jaime Slater), alongside a supporting cast including Jamaica Vaughan, Ivana Baquero, Claudia Black, India Shaw-Smith, and Leigh Gill. Fans of the original series will also spot a brief appearance by Liam McIntyre as Spartacus.

Steven S. DeKnight, the original franchise mastermind, returns as showrunner and executive producer, with Rick Jacobson and Aaron Helbing also on board. Produced by Lionsgate Television for Starz, the series promises a blend of history, politics, and erotic spectacle that expands on the world of the original Spartacus series, which ran from 2010 to 2013.

Spartacus: House of Ashur premieres with two episodes on December 5, with new episodes streaming weekly on Fridays via the Starz app and linear channel. For viewers wanting to revisit the saga, all previous Spartacus chapters—Blood and Sand, Gods of the Arena, Vengeance, and War of the Damned—are available to stream on Starz.
