Stephen Bishop and David Zayas Join ABC’s ‘R.J. Decker’

ABC’s hit drama R.J. Decker, inspired by Carl Hiaasen’s novel Double Whammy, has added Stephen Bishop and David Zayas in key recurring roles for its latest season.

Scott Speedman stars as RJ Decker, a former newspaper photographer and ex-con turned private investigator navigating the crime-filled streets of South Florida. The series follows him as he tackles cases ranging from the odd to the bizarre, with help from his journalist ex, her police detective wife, and a shadowy figure from his past.

Bishop will portray Bruce Vinkour, a wealthy real estate developer enlisted by Emilia “Emi” Ochoa (Jaina Lee Ortiz) to intervene when her father becomes entangled in RJ’s investigations. Zayas will play Victor Ochoa, Emi’s father and a powerful, corrupt state senator who once used his influence to send RJ to prison.

The ensemble also includes Bevin Bru as Detective Melody “Mel” Abreu, Kevin Rankin as Aloysius “Wish” Aiken, and Adelaide Clemens as Catherine Delacroix. Bishop and Zayas join a roster of guest stars that includes Dawnn Lewis, Rich Sommer, Tony Plana, Tamera Mowry-Housley, Rizwan Manji, Keith Powell, Olga Merediz, Johanna Braddy, Andy Favreau, and Joseph Lee Anderson.

Produced by 20th Television, R.J. Decker is showrun by Rob Doherty (Elementary), with Carl Beverly, Sarah Timberman, Carl Hiaasen, Jason Tracey, and Paul McGuigan serving as executive producers. Speedman also serves as a producer.

Zayas, best known for his role as Angel Batista in Dexter and its sequel Dexter: Resurrection, has appeared in FBI, Blue Bloods, Chicago P.D., NYPD Blue, and more. Bishop, recognized for Moneyball, BET’s Being Mary Jane, Netflix’s The Imposters, and CBS’ The Equalizer, most recently starred in Lifetime’s Finding Faith and Starz’s Run The World.
