The Talk to Me universe is leveling up — literally into your living room.
Meta is partnering with XRTV, the new immersive storytelling studio from the founders of Crypt TV, on a live-action spinoff series set in the world of the breakout A24 horror hit. The project, currently untitled, will consist of six half-hour episodes and be created exclusively for Meta headsets.
The story follows a group of young travelers chasing the ultimate party escape on a European island, until they encounter the Hand — a supernatural high more dangerous than any drug. The creative team has described the tone as Euphoria with possession.
Shot fully in 3D and powered by mixed-reality tech, the series will map viewers’ real environments so the supernatural action blends directly into your space. It aims to deliver the unsettling feeling Talk to Me became known for — but now, inches from your face.
Trent Atherton is writing all six episodes, while Craig William Macneill (Them, Channel Zero) will direct. Original filmmakers Danny and Michael Philippou are on board as executive producers, alongside XRTV’s Darren Brandl and Jack Davis; Causeway Films’ Samantha Jennings and Kristina Ceyton; Sur Film’s Andreas Michael Wentz and Juan Antonio Cano Trujillo; and Meta’s Jeff Rich.
This XR expansion builds off the massive success of Talk to Me. Written and directed by the Philippou brothers in their feature debut, the film first premiered at Sundance before sparking a fierce bidding war and landing at A24. Its fresh take on possession — treating the supernatural not as a curse but as a thrill teens chase like a viral dare — struck a chord with audiences. Powered by social buzz and critical acclaim, the film went on to earn more than $90 million worldwide, becoming A24’s highest-grossing horror title and one of the most talked-about indie horror releases in recent years.
A feature sequel is already in development, and now the franchise is venturing into immersive storytelling — letting viewers feel like the Hand’s haunting presence is right inside their home.
