Taraji P. Henson Inks Two-Film Deal with Netflix, Expanding Partnership Through TPH Entertainment

Taraji P. Henson has signed a new two-picture acting deal with Netflix, expanding her creative partnership with the streamer. Under the deal, the Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner will star in and produce two upcoming films through her production company, TPH Entertainment.

The announcement follows the success of Straw, Henson’s first Netflix original feature, which premiered in June 2025. The psychological thriller earned widespread acclaim and held a spot on Netflix’s Global Top 10 Movies (English) for five consecutive weeks, drawing over 106 million views.

Next up, Henson is joining Tyler Perry’s upcoming Why Did I Get Married, entering the beloved relationship drama franchise as a new cast member. The original films, released in 2007 and 2010, followed a group of couples who gather annually to confront the complexities of love, marriage, and friendship.

Henson is also preparing to make her Broadway debut in August Wilson’s Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, opening Spring 2026. Directed by Debbie Allen, the revival will star Henson as Bertha Holly alongside Cedric “The Entertainer” as Seth Holly, with Kandi Burruss joining the production team as a producer. The play, part of Wilson’s iconic Century Cycle, explores the lives of Black Americans in the early 20th century as they search for identity, freedom, and belonging in post-slavery America.

With major projects spanning film, theater, and production, Taraji P. Henson continues to solidify her legacy as one of Hollywood’s most dynamic storytellers and creative forces.
