HBO Max has unveiled the teaser trailer for the Emmy-nominated medical drama The Pitt Season 2, which returns in January.
The new season once again plays out over the course of a single 15-hour shift at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center’s emergency department — but this time, the shift falls on the Fourth of July. It also marks the return of Dr. Frank Langdon (Patrick Ball), who is back on his first day after completing an inpatient rehab program, following the explosive revelations of his drug addiction in Season 1.
Noah Wyle reprises his role as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch, who ordered Langdon into rehab last season. Now, the two cross paths again — on what happens to be Robby’s last day before a three-month sabbatical. “I was really hoping not to see [Langdon] today,” Wyle told Vanity Fair, teasing the tension between the doctors. “Langdon has done the work to keep his license intact, but Robby feels a personal betrayal that’s going to be even harder to overcome.”
The ensemble cast also features Katherine LaNasa, Supriya Ganesh, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden, Isa Briones, Gerran Howell, Shabana Azeez, and Sepideh Moafi, who joins as Dr. Al-Hashimi, an attending physician transferring from the VA Hospital. New faces include Laëtitia Hollard as a med student getting her first chaotic taste of emergency medicine.
The teaser trailer promises another high-stakes, emotionally charged season: a combative patient in the back of an ambulance, police chasing suspects through the hospital, and fireworks both literal and figurative as tensions flare inside the ER.
In addition to starring, Wyle will also step behind the camera to direct an episode. Executive producer John Wells has said the new season will debut Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026, though HBO Max has so far only confirmed a January release window.
The Pitt won four major honors at the 2025 TCA Awards, solidifying its place as one of HBO Max’s standout dramas.
