The Boys Are Back, One Last Time: First Trailer for Final Season Drops

Prime Video’s flagship hit The Boys is gearing up for its explosive conclusion. On Saturday at CCXP in São Paulo, the streamer revealed the first teaser for the fifth and final season, along with its premiere date: April 8, 2026. The two-episode kickoff leads to a series finale on May 20, 2026.

The trailer sets a dark tone: America is now under Homelander’s (Antony Starr) iron-fisted control, with chaos spreading across the nation. Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), and Frenchie (Tomer Capone) find themselves imprisoned in a “Freedom Camp,” while Annie (Erin Moriarty) struggles to mount a resistance. Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) is missing, and Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) returns with a virus capable of wiping out all Supes, igniting a chain of events that promises to reshape the world.

“You wouldn’t be the first throwing your life away in a war, but you would be the first saving the world doing it,” Butcher warns in the teaser, giving fans a glimpse of the stakes at hand.

The trailer also teases major returns and surprises. Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy appears in cryogenic stasis, and Jared Padalecki makes a mysterious debut, marking a reunion with Supernatural creator Eric Kripke, who also serves as showrunner.

The Boys has become a cultural touchstone for Prime, inspiring spinoffs like Gen V and animated series The Boys Presents: Diabolical. As the original series approaches its finale, other projects are already in motion: Paul Grellong is showrunning prequel Vought Rising, and Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal are executive producing The Boys: Mexico.

At the CCXP panel, Kripke joined Erin Moriarty, Laz Alonso, Karen Fukuhara, Tomer Capone, and Colby Minifie to celebrate the final season. With its history of mirroring real-world events—most notably the Jan. 6 riots—the show promises one last thrilling ride before the end of the line for Butcher and his crew.
