‘The Gallerist’ Starring Sterling K. Brown and Da’Vine Joy Randolph to World Premiere at Sundance 2026

Chaos, comedy, and high-stakes schemes collide in The Gallerist, a darkly funny crime caper starring Sterling K. Brown and Da’Vine Joy Randolph, set for its world premiere at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival.

Directed by Cathy Yan, who also co-wrote the screenplay with James Pedersen, The Gallerist follows a desperate art dealer’s audacious plan to sell a dead body at Art Basel Miami. The film also stars Natalie Portman, Jenna Ortega, Zach Galifianakis, and Catherine Zeta-Jones, teasing a mix of sharp humor and cultural satire. Producers include Ash Sarohia, Sophie Mas, Natalie Portman, Jonathan King, Tom McCarthy, and Rae Baron.

This will mark the final year Sundance is held in Park City, Utah, after four decades. Festival organizers are making sure to close this chapter with a bold lineup: 90 feature films and seven episodic projects from 28 countries, selected from 16,201 submissions from 164 countries and regions. Notably, 40% of the selections are directed by first-time filmmakers, with Black and Brown creatives playing a prominent role in this year’s program.

The 2026 Sundance Film Festival runs from January 22–February 1, in Park City and Salt Lake City, Utah, with an at-home program available online January 29–February 1. The Gallerist is among the highly anticipated premieres that highlight the festival’s commitment to daring, diverse storytelling.
