The Gen Zone Returns With Season 2, ‘The United States of Amnesia,’ Set to Film in June

Production is gearing up on Season 2 of The Gen Zone, the youth-driven weekly political docuseries that blends news commentary with meme culture, viral moments, and real conversations with young voters.

The upcoming eight-episode installment, titled ‘The United States of Amnesia,’ will begin filming in June and is slated to premiere following this year’s midterm elections.

Created by producer Damien Douglas and hosted by actress Jhone Lucas, the series takes a culturally fluent approach to national and international politics, making civic engagement feel accessible rather than overwhelming.

‘The United States of Amnesia’ will dive into the cultural, political, and social forces shaping America today — with a focus on how media cycles, misinformation, and institutional memory (or lack thereof) influence the national conversation.

Since its debut, The Gen Zone has positioned itself as a space where civic engagement meets cultural relevance — centering younger generations in conversations that directly impact their futures.

Douglas said the series aims to continue redefining political storytelling for a new era, emphasizing that the stakes for young voters have never been higher. Lucas echoed that sentiment, noting that politics affects every aspect of daily life and that younger generations can no longer afford to remain disengaged.

Douglas and Lucas serve as producers and writers on the series alongside Selena Kuikahi. Robert Reber will direct the new season.

Season 1 originally premiered on Fox Soul before becoming available on BET+, expanding its reach to a broader streaming audience. Additional production details and release information are expected in the coming months.

Douglas is an award-winning writer and producer with more than 30 film projects across theatrical and streaming platforms. His credits include psychological thriller Supremacy, Fatale, the horror thriller Fear, and the action film War Dawgs.

Lucas began her career after graduating from Creighton University, landing her first television credit on the Netflix remake of She’s Gotta Have It. She has since appeared in projects including Lunar Lockdown and the action thriller To Get Her, and will next lead the upcoming thriller Critical Impact.
