‘The Ms. Pat Show’ Renewed for Season 6 as BET Content Heads to Paramount+

BET is keeping one of its boldest comedies in rotation.

The Ms. Pat Show has officially been renewed for a sixth season, with the series also set to expand its reach in a major way. Beginning in June, the show will be among the first BET originals to stream on Paramount+, which becomes the new streaming home for BET content.

Created by and starring Patricia “Ms. Pat” Williams-Lee alongside Jordan E. Cooper, the R-rated comedy is inspired by her memoir Rabbit: The Autobiography of Ms. Pat. The series recently wrapped its fifth season with an eight-episode run, continuing to build a loyal audience drawn to its raw, unfiltered storytelling.

At its core, The Ms. Pat Show follows Pat Carson, the outspoken matriarch of a working-class Black family navigating everyday life with humor, honesty, and zero sugarcoating. Over five seasons, the series has leaned into conversations many comedies avoid—tackling addiction, abortion, racism, sexual abuse, LGBTQ+ identity, immigration, generational trauma, and more—without ever losing its comedic edge.

That balance is exactly what the team plans to maintain as the show transitions to a larger platform.

Season 5 continued to push storylines further, sparking conversation both on-screen and off. Standout arcs included Denise’s (Tami Roman) evolving romantic life, Janelle’s (Briyana Guadalupe) possible pregnancy, and Terry’s (J. Bernard Calloway) search for his father—storylines that reflect the show’s commitment to layered, character-driven storytelling.

Behind the scenes, the series continues to carry strong creative backing, produced by Imagine Entertainment, Lee Daniels Entertainment, and Cooper’s Cookout Entertainment, with executive producers including Brian Grazer and Lee Daniels. Director Mary Lou Belli has also earned three consecutive Emmy nominations for her work on the series.

The Bigger Picture:
This move signals more than just a renewal—it’s part of a larger shift in how BET content is being positioned. By bringing originals like The Ms. Pat Show to Paramount+, the network is expanding access and visibility, giving culturally specific stories a broader, global platform without losing their authenticity.

All five seasons of The Ms. Pat Show are currently streaming on BET+, with Season 6 on the way.
