‘The Ms. Pat Show’ Season 5 Trailer Teases More Mess, More Truth, and Zero Filter

The Ms. Pat Show is back—and Season 5 looks ready to turn the chaos all the way up. BET+ has officially dropped the first trailer for the hit comedy, teasing bigger laughs, messier family dynamics, and a stacked guest-star lineup when the new season premieres Wednesday, January 7. The season opens with three episodes, followed by weekly Wednesday drops.

Inspired by the real-life experiences of creator and star Patricia “Ms. Pat” Williams-Lee, the series is based on her memoir Rabbit: The Autobiography of Ms. Pat. The show centers on a former drug dealer and convicted felon turned suburban mom navigating motherhood, marriage, and adulthood with zero filter. It’s a modern, R-rated family comedy that doesn’t dodge tough conversations—and Season 5 keeps that tradition intact.

After four seasons that tackled everything from addiction and abortion to sexual abuse and generational trauma, the Carson family returns with even more to unpack. This time around, the focus shifts to the scars left by absent parents, the ones created by present parents, and what it really means to chase your dreams while holding a family together. BET+ is calling it the show’s “wildest, most uproarious season yet,” and the trailer backs that up.

Season 5 also brings an impressive roster of guest stars, including Raven-Symoné, Tisha Campbell, Loretta Devine, Tristan “Mack” Wilds, Omeretta, Sandra Caldwell, and R&B legends SWV. The trailer teases appearances from Campbell, Raven-Symoné, and Devine, while series co-creator Jordan E. Cooper returns onscreen as Sadiq Shay.

What to Expect in the Season 5 Premiere

  • Episode 501 – ‘Killin’ and Dyin’’: Pat pushes herself too far, faints, and is ordered to rest—advice she promptly ignores when a major comedy opportunity arises involving a big star.
  • Episode 502 – ‘Wild Goose Chase’: A family yard sale spirals out of control when Lloyd’s ashes and a deeply personal video are accidentally sold.
  • Episode 503 – ‘License and Registration?’: Janelle stresses over college registration chaos and Terry’s overprotective parenting, while Junebug lands himself in serious trouble.

The season also sees Tami Roman back as Pat’s sister Denise—this time with a new romantic interest that definitely raises eyebrows.

Created by Williams-Lee and Cooper, the series is executive produced by a powerhouse team that includes Lee Daniels and Brian Grazer, and is produced by Imagine Entertainment, Lee Daniels Entertainment, DAE Light Media, and Cookout Entertainment.

Season 5 of The Ms. Pat Show premieres exclusively on BET+ on January 7, kicking off another run of laugh-out-loud moments, uncomfortable truths, and the kind of family storytelling that doesn’t play it safe—and never has.
