Thomas Q. Jones is the latest to join Dan Fogelman’s untitled football drama series for Hulu.
Created and written by Fogelman, the series is set inside the world of the NFL and centers around a generational family dynamic within a professional football organization. Christopher Meloni leads the ensemble cast as head coach Danny, with Sam Corlett and Tanner Zagarino portraying his sons. William H. Macy stars as team owner Hank Durkin, while Mandy Moore and Chloe Bennet play Hank’s daughters. Chace Crawford joins as the team’s newly appointed General Manager.
Jones, a former NFL Pro Bowl running back turned actor, will have a key recurring role as a football player, though specific character details are under wraps. Calahan Skogman has also joined the cast in an undisclosed role.
Omar Epps will recur as a former NFL player who now serves as the team’s offensive coordinator. The series reunites Epps and Fogelman, who previously worked together on This Is Us, where Epps appeared as Darnell in Season 4.
The project hails from 20th Television and Skydance Sports, with Fogelman, Jess Rosenthal, and Kevin Falls executive producing. Skydance’s David Ellison, Jesse Sisgold, and Jason T. Reed also serve as executive producers.
Jones continues to build on his post-NFL acting career with standout performances as Mane on Starz’s P-Valley, as well as roles in Johnson (now streaming on Hulu) and Marvel’s Luke Cage, where he played Comanche. He currently recurs on and executive produces G.R.I.T.S. (Girls Raised In The South) for AMC/AllBlk.
Fogelman’s upcoming football drama extends his collaboration with Hulu under his overall deal with 20th Television. Earlier this year, his acclaimed series Paradise—starring This Is Us alum Sterling K. Brown—earned four Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series.
