Tiffany Haddish Joins Indie Crime Thriller ‘The Girl in the River’

Production is underway in Mississippi on The Girl in the River, an indie crime thriller starring Tiffany Haddish, Maggie Grace, Devon Sawa, and Ralph Macchio.

The film follows a seasoned criminologist and a young female psychologist who are drawn to a remote Mississippi town to investigate the brutal murder of a little girl and the mysterious disappearance of her twin sister.

The project marks the feature debut of Italian writer-director Brando Benetton, whose short film Nightfire starred Emmy nominee Dylan Baker.

Produced under Andrew Stevens Entertainment (The Ritual, The Deputy) and Joe Lemmon’s Black Diamond Films (The Ritual Killer), the film also lists Rick Moore (Eyevox Entertainment), Hicham Benkirane (HBK F.C.), Jeff Roschman, Dawn Bursteen, Alessandro Penazzi, Sam Stevens, and Alan B. Bursteen among its executive producers. Casting was handled by Valerie McCaffrey.

Grace, also known for Lost and the Twilight franchise, is repped by Gersh, Mosaic, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman. Sawa, best known for Final Destination and horror titles like Chucky, is repped by Gersh, Artists First, and Felker Toczek Suddleson. Haddish, whose credits include The Card Counter and Girls Trip, is repped by UTA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole. Macchio, who reprised his iconic Karate Kid role in Karate Kid: Legends and Netflix’s Cobra Kai, is repped by Gersh and Untitled Entertainment.
