Tyga, Madison Bailey, Ashton Sanders Among 8 to Star in Coming-of-Age Musical ‘Baby, You’re a Star’

Multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated artist Tyga is expanding his creative reach, making his feature film debut in the coming-of-age musical Baby, You’re a Star—a project he also co-wrote and is producing alongside Curtis Bryant.

Tyga leads an ensemble cast that includes Madison Bailey and Ashton Sanders, with additional appearances from Apollonia, Clifton Powell, Patrick Cage, David Alan Grier, and Mike Epps.

Set in 1989, the film centers on a determined young artist striving to break free from the limitations of his environment while navigating love, identity, and the pursuit of artistic expression. Blending music, nostalgia, and emotional depth, the story aims to capture a generation on the cusp of cultural change.

The film marks the feature directorial debut of Arrad Rahgoshay, known for his work behind the camera in music videos. He directs from a script by Tyga and Bryant, with Brian Sher and Eric Tomosunas also producing.

Currently in production in Portland, Baby, You’re a Star draws inspiration from Tyga’s own journey in music. Born Micheal Ray Stevenson, the artist broke into the mainstream with his 2011 hit “Rack City,” which peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 and helped launch his debut album Careless World: Rise of the Last King.

While Tyga has previously appeared on television, Baby, You’re a Star marks his first leading role in a feature film—signaling a notable transition from chart-topping artist to on-screen storyteller.
