After nearly two years off our screens, Upload is finally coming back — but not for long.
Prime Video has officially announced that the fourth and final season of its hit sci-fi comedy Upload will premiere Monday, August 25, with all four episodes of the finale event dropping at once in over 240 countries and territories.
Created by Emmy-winning writer Greg Daniels (The Office, Parks and Recreation), Upload imagines a future where people can escape death by uploading their consciousness to a virtual afterlife — if they can afford it. The series has mixed romance, satire, and tech paranoia with equal parts humor and heartbreak.
Season 4 picks up after that jaw-dropping cliffhanger, where both the original Nathan and his digital replica were captured — but only one survived. And now, as a rogue AI threatens to erase Lakeview (and the world), it’s up to Nathan, Nora, and the rest of the gang to team up one last time.
According to the official logline:
“Sentient AI rapidly turns evil, threatening to wipe out Lakeview (and the world!). On top of greedy executives, lingering mysteries, plus heartbreak in VR and IRL, our characters are tested like never before. The only way they can get through it all and save humanity from deletion is by teaming up one last time.”
The returning cast includes Robbie Amell, Andy Allo, Kevin Bigley, Allegra Edwards, Zainab Johnson, Owen Daniels, Jessica Tuck, and Chloe Coleman.
First-look images offer a glimpse at major moments ahead — including a wedding scene featuring Nathan with his mother and niece. But which Nathan is it? The original who loves Nora, or the replica who’s still tangled up with Ingrid?
With its Rotten Tomatoes score of 89% and a loyal fanbase, Upload has been one of Prime Video’s most unique offerings. As it joins the growing list of high-profile Prime series coming to an end, the streamer may soon be in search of its next sci-fi comedy hit.
For now, though, we’re uploading one last time.
