Mario Van Peebles, Myles Truitt, and Genneya Walton are set to star in Young Blood, a new vampire island thriller from writer-director Ari Schlossberg. The WeBros Entertainment production is currently shooting in Key Largo, Florida.
The trio joins a previously announced ensemble that includes Madison Wolfe, Marley Aliah, Alex Aiono, and Mitchell Hoog. Theo Rossi and Derek Wilson also star.
Young Blood follows three college best friends whose spring break getaway to Key Largo turns into a nightmare when they’re stranded on a deserted island and hunted by starved, bloodthirsty vampires. Van Peebles, Rossi, and Wilson will play the film’s ominous “vampire godfathers.”
Schlossberg, who previously penned the psychological thriller Hide and Seek and created the CBS series Harper’s Island, directs from his own screenplay. The project marks his return to genre storytelling with a youthful, survival-horror twist.
The film is produced by Michael Weiss, Andy Weiss, and Gregg Barbagallo for WeBros Entertainment. Executive producers include Matt Luber, Kelly Pendygraft, Brian Gottlieb, Celina and Sergio Borges Torrealba Carpi, and Arvin Scott. Sales are being handled by Babacar Diene of Paradigm Talent Agency.
No release date has been announced, but with production underway in Florida, Young Blood is positioning itself as a fresh, youth-driven entry in the vampire thriller space.
