The 12th Annual Truth Awards has tapped Vivica A. Fox to host, with five-time Grammy winner Lalah Hathaway set to perform during this year’s celebration of Black LGBTQ+ excellence and allyship.
The annual fundraiser and awards gala, presented by Better Brothers Los Angeles and The DIVA Foundation, is set for Saturday, March 21, 2026, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Variety also reported the news this week, confirming Fox as host and Hathaway as the evening’s featured performer
This year’s theme, “Saving Ourselves. Together We Rise.”, centers unity, resilience, and collective responsibility while spotlighting Black queer community members and allies making an impact across media, advocacy, music, and entertainment.
We previously reported this year’s honorees include Don Lemon, who will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award; Jenifer Lewis, who is being honored with the Ally Award; Carlos King, who will receive the Media & Arts Award; Flame Monroe, who is set to receive the Entertainer Award; Durand Bernarr, who will be honored with the Music & Arts Award; Nneka Onuorah, who will receive the Breakout Star Award; and Dr. Keith Green, who is being recognized with the Bayard Rustin Advocacy Award.
The event will also feature a lineup of presenters and special guests that includes Sheryl Lee Ralph, Karine Jean-Pierre, LisaRaye McCoy, Terrell Carter, and Steven G. Norfleet, among others, according to the release.
In addition to honoring this year’s recipients, the ceremony will include a 30th anniversary tribute to Waiting to Exhale, with performances by Toni Scruggs, Keisha Renée, Isaiah Zay, and Johnny Manuel.
Beyond the ceremony itself, the Truth Awards weekend will begin on Friday, March 20, with the 4th Annual Passing the Torch Awards, which celebrates the next generation of Black LGBTQ+ leaders. The weekend will close on Sunday, March 22, with Rooted in Grace, a brunch conversation focused on faith, family, and the Black LGBTQ+ community’s relationship to HIV prevention, treatment, and care.
Better Brothers Los Angeles also noted that it will honor eight scholarship recipients this year as part of its ongoing commitment to education, mentorship, and leadership development. The organization says it has awarded more than $300,000 in tuition assistance since its founding.
The 2026 Truth Awards are powered by ViiV Healthcare, with additional support from Moët & Hennessy, OWN, Netflix, Atlantic Health System, and In The Meantime Men’s Group, according to the release.
