Wanted, the new Broadway musical formerly known as Gun & Powder, is officially making its way to the James Earl Jones Theatre this fall.
The production will begin previews on October 15 ahead of an opening night set for November 8. Leading the show are Solea Pfeiffer as Mary Clarke and Liisi LaFontaine as Martha Clarke, real-life Black twin sisters who passed as white in 1893 Texas. Obie winner and Tony nominee Stevie Walker-Webb is set to direct.
The musical tells the story of Mary and Martha Clarke, two women determined to save their family while navigating a dangerous America divided by race. Set in Texas in 1893, the story follows the sisters as they hide who they are and take fate into their own hands, ultimately becoming outlaws and legends.
Wanted features a book and lyrics by Angelica Chéri, a descendant of the Clarke sisters, with music by Ross Baum and choreography by Chelsey Arce. Additional casting and creative team announcements are expected at a later date.

In a statement, producers P3 Productions said they were excited to bring the musical to Broadway, noting the timing of the announcement during Women’s History Month felt especially meaningful as the show continues to spotlight women whose stories have often been left out of history. They also praised Chéri for sharing her family’s story and helping bring it to the stage alongside Baum’s score.
Pfeiffer and LaFontaine also shared their excitement, calling it an honor to portray women whose history is so rarely discussed. In a joint statement, they reflected on the importance of representation onstage and said they look forward to audiences meeting the Sisters Clarke.
Before landing on Broadway, the musical had a run at Paper Mill Playhouse in spring 2024 under its original title, Gun & Powder. That production starred LaFontaine as Martha and Ciara Renée as Mary. A later workshop in june 2025 featured Pfeiffer stepping into the role of Mary opposite LaFontaine’s Martha, signaling the pairing that will now lead the show to Broadway.
The production already has music available for audiences to preview. Wanted: The Studio EP is currently available on digital and streaming platforms and includes five songs from the musical, including “Wide Open Plains,” “The Train,” “Gun & Powder,” “The Way I Am,” and “Freedom.”
With its mix of history, legacy, and rebellion, Wanted is bringing the story of Mary and Martha Clarke to Broadway in a way that feels both timely and long overdue.
