Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba and Ariana Grande’s Glinda are back in the spotlight—and at odds—in the newly released final trailer for Wicked: For Good. The highly anticipated sequel to 2024’s global box office hit Wicked will close out the two-part adaptation of the Broadway phenomenon when it arrives in theaters on November 21.
The trailer opens with Glinda’s growing influence in Oz under Madame Morrible’s guidance, including her rise as Glinda the Good, complete with her signature pink bubble and wand. But Elphaba’s defiant return shatters the celebration as she flies into the sky to carve “Our wizard lies” into the clouds. Later, in a tense confrontation with her former schoolmate, Elphaba cuts deep: “You have no real power.”
The preview also features Erivo belting out “No Good Deed” and hints at emotional moments still to come, including the beloved duet “For Good.” Dorothy even makes her long-awaited appearance, though the character will remain faceless—a creative choice Erivo described as allowing audiences to imagine their own Dorothy. Ariana Grande revealed she leaned into Glinda’s subtle shade toward Dorothy in their interactions: “She could have told her to take the Emerald City train! But she didn’t.”
Composer Stephen Schwartz has confirmed two brand-new songs written for the film—“No Place Like Home” and “The Girl in the Bubble.” The official soundtrack will drop on the same day the movie hits theaters.
Wicked: For Good continues the story where the first installment left off, following the fractured bond between Elphaba and Glinda against the backdrop of Oz’s unrest. Returning cast members include Jonathan Bailey as Prince Fiyero, Ethan Slater as Boq, Bowen Yang as Pfannee, Marissa Bode as Nessarose, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, and Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard.
While Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel surprised audiences with cameos in the first film, they’ve confirmed they will not appear in the sequel. “It’s their time,” Chenoweth shared. “We had our moment, and we were very honored they included us, but it’s their turn.”
The first Wicked not only scored over $700 million worldwide, but also earned Erivo an Oscar nomination for Best Actress and Grande one for Best Supporting Actress. The film won two Academy Awards for Production Design (Nathan Crowley and Lee Sandales) and Costume Design (Paul Tazewell).
With new songs, bigger stakes, and Elphaba and Glinda’s final reckoning, Wicked: For Good promises to deliver a spectacular conclusion to one of the most beloved stories in modern musical history.
