William Jackson Harper Joins FX Limited Series ‘Cry Wolf’

William Jackson Harper is heading to FX.

The Emmy and Tony nominee has joined the cast of FX’s upcoming limited series Cry Wolf, a psychological family thriller from creator and showrunner Sarah Treem, inspired by the Danish series Ulven Kommer (Cry Wolf) by Maja Jul Larsen.

Harper joins a previously announced ensemble led by Olivia Colman and Brie Larson, alongside Shawn Hatosy, Alyvia Alyn Lind, and Jack Greig.

Set around a case that spirals into emotional and moral uncertainty, Cry Wolf follows Kath (Colman), a social worker, and April (Larson), a mother whose family is thrown into crisis after her teenage daughter Mia (Lind) alleges abuse. As the accusation unfolds, both women are pushed to their limits while navigating a situation where the truth is anything but clear.

Hatosy plays April’s husband and Mia’s stepfather — the man at the center of the allegations — while Greig portrays April’s son. Harper will appear as Arthur, Kath’s supervisor at Child Protective Services, a role described as having a sharp sense of humor amid the show’s otherwise heavy emotional terrain.

Production is expected to begin soon.. The series is produced by FX Productions and executive produced by Treem, Colman through her South of the River Pictures banner, Melissa Bernstein of Special Interests, and Larson.

Harper was most recently seen in season four of The Morning Show and remains widely recognized for his breakout role as Chidi on The Good Place, which earned him an Emmy nomination. His stage work includes a Tony-nominated performance in Uncle Vanya on Broadway.

Up next, Harper is set to lead MGM+’s anthology series American Hostage. His recent television credits also include A Man in Full, Love Life (which he executive produced), and The Underground Railroad.

FX’s Cry Wolf continues to take shape as one of the network’s most emotionally charged limited series offerings, with Harper’s addition rounding out an already stacked cast.
