BAFTA winner Wunmi Mosaku (Sinners) is set to join The Social Reckoning, Sony Pictures’ follow-up to The Social Network — the Oscar-winning 2010 drama that chronicled Facebook’s explosive rise and the fallout that followed.
No word yet on who Mosaku will portray. She joins a cast that includes the previously announced Mikey Madison, Jeremy Allen White, Jeremy Strong, and Bill Burr. This time around, Aaron Sorkin is not only penning the script but also stepping behind the camera to direct.
Described as a companion piece to The Social Network, The Social Reckoning follows the true story of Frances Haugen (Madison), a young Facebook engineer who enlists journalist Jeff Horwitz (White) from The Wall Street Journal to help expose the platform’s most tightly guarded secrets. The film is set to hit theaters on October 9, 2026, with Todd Black, Peter Rice, Sorkin, and Stuart Besser producing.
Originally released in 2010 and directed by David Fincher, The Social Network became an instant cultural touchstone. Starring Jesse Eisenberg as Mark Zuckerberg, the film explored the creation of Facebook and the legal and ethical battles that followed its meteoric rise.
The sharp, fast-paced script earned Aaron Sorkin an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay, while the film itself was nominated for eight Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Director. With its iconic dialogue and propulsive score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, The Social Network helped define the tone of modern tech-era storytelling — making The Social Reckoning one of the most anticipated follow-ups in recent years.
The Social Reckoning marks Mosaku’s second major project announcement since Sinners. As previously reported, she also joined Idris Elba’s upcoming project This Is How It Goes, further solidifying her status as one of Hollywood’s most in-demand talents.
