2024 ABFF Honors to Celebrate Garrett Morris, Taraji P. Henson, Mara Brock Akil, and Jeffrey Wright

Garrett Morris, Taraji P. Henson, Mara Brock Akil, and Jeffrey Wright to be honored at the 2024’s ABFF Honors.

The 6th annual American Black Film Festival (ABFF) Honors, presented by NICE CROWD, will take place on March 3rd at the SLS hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. The ceremony, hosted by Tommy Davidson, will honor Taraji P. Henson, Garrett Morris, Mara Brock Akil, and Jeffrey Wright for their outstanding contributions to the motion picture and television industry.

Garrett Morris will receive the Hollywood Legacy Award, recognizing his trailblazing career spanning four decades. Taraji P. Henson will be honored with the Excellence in the Arts Award (Female), and Jeffrey Wright will receive the Excellence in the Arts Award (Male). Mara Brock Akil will be recognized with the Industry Visionary Award for her commitment to diversity and inclusion.

The Fan Favorite Movie of the Year will acknowledge the most outstanding narrative feature-length film directed by a person of African descent. Nominees include A Thousand and One, American Fiction, Origin, The Color Purple, They Cloned Tyrone, and The Equalizer 3.

The winners, determined by an online poll of over 100,000 festival alumni, will be revealed at the ABFF Honors ceremony.

NICE CROWD’s CEO and President, Jeff and Nicole Friday, express excitement about honoring these influential figures. The event will celebrate the achievements of Garrett, Taraji, Jeffrey, and Mara, recognizing their significant contributions to culture and the industry.

The ABFF Honors, an annual gala stemming from the American Black Film Festival (ABFF), founded by Jeff Friday in 1997, has been a vital platform for showcasing Black storytelling and supporting Black artists. The ceremony is executive produced by Nicole and Jeff Friday (NICE CROWD) in association with dePasse Jones Entertainment and Rikki Hughes (Magic Lemonade).
